Job summary
It is an exciting time for HM Land Registry (HMLR) as we continue a major transformation programme. HMLR's ambition is to become the world’s leading land registry for speed, simplicity and an open approach to data.
We're looking for two Senior Technical Architects (Software & Solutions) to join our Transformation and Technology directorate, within the Architecture practice, alongside Lead and Principal Technical Architects to help us deliver and drive forward our ambitious plans.
Job description
Main Duties:
- Take a top-down view to identify the things we need to change and be able to evaluate the impact of change on our IT estate, both current and future.
- Consider how the solution will operate in its own context and how it will function in the context of the larger ecosystem.
- Understand and has experience of software development or software integration.
- Understand how things will scale for the future and how they will be maintained.
- Get close to the tech and delivery aspects of architecture.
- Solve complex problems.
- Develop a solution working with software engineers and other architects, who have different domain specialisms, to deliver the “best fit” solutions which bring quantifiable benefits whilst optimising cost.
- Work collaboratively with multiple agile delivery teams to deliver the required outcomes.
- Understand the needs of stakeholders, and identify technical challenges and changes needed.
- Take accountability for end-to-end solutions from initiation to delivery and its ongoing lifecycle in line with strategies and intentions.
- Use and understand of a broad range of technologies, tools and processes.
- Proactively keep up to date with upcoming technologies and changes in the industry
HMLR expect everyone to spend at least 60% of their working time in the office.
Travel to HMLR's Plymouth office, will be required on a regular basis.
Occasional travel is necessary to HMLR business units, external supplier sites and other Government Departments.
Where an individual taking up the responsibility will be based in Swansea Office, the ability to speak Welsh is desirable.

You will understand the needs of stakeholders and how to use technology to deliver good architectural designs. Showing where you have solved complex problems by managing levels of risk. You will take accountability for end to end solutions from initial delivery and lifecycle in line with a strategy. You will deliver compliance in line with security requirements and be able to demonstrate experience of developing technical strategies, principles, patterns and roadmaps.
